Yauatcha, the holy grail of perfect Dim Sums, is celebrating their Anniversary all this month of November across their outlets in India. Anniversaries call for special celebrations and popping of some champagne – Yauatcha has done this in their own special way by introducing a limited edition set menu. We were invited last week to join the celebrations.
Yauatcha has always been my preferred Dim Sum spot in Bangalore. The finesse with which each Dim Sum wrapper is created, is an art that no one else has come close to imitating. The variety of colours, mediums and textures coupled with the unique fillings make a mind boggling Dim Sum experience. There are many five stars that offer Dim Sum menus, but sadly none can hold a candle to the talented chefs in Yauatchas kitchens.
The limited edition menu for November, introduces an assorted dim sum basket – both veg and non-veg, a fantastic champagne cocktail and to end it celebrating – some lovely macarons. Here’s a quick preview of the tongue tickling selection – perfect for sharing between two people.
Keeping with the celebratory theme – there is a champagne cocktail on offer. The Red Dragon (INR 795) is a gorgeous pink drink with champagne, cranberry juice, Cointreau, Lemon and refreshing herbs. I think they should have called it the Pink Dragon 😛
The Vegetarian assorted Dim Sum basket (INR 888) gives you two of each of the four new dim sums. The Baby Corn and the French Bean Dumpling is crunchy and fresh and encased is a light yellow wrapper with a pomegranate on top. The Spicy Turnip Dumpling was a revelation. The purple dumpling wrapper cleverly masks the pungent hit that a juicy turnips deliver. The Vegetable Chow Chow Dumpling, a medley of colourful veggies peek delightfully through a transparent potato starch wrapper – sheer delight! The most interesting of the lot was the Vegetable Orange Dumpling. While the vegetables inside were the standard mirepoix, the wrapper was flavoured with orange juice and the colour was beautifully incorporated in the glossy dumpling wrapper.
The Non Vegetarian selection (INR 998) already got my heart racing with the XO Dumpling. Scallops and Prawns in a lovely Sui Mai topped with XO sauce. The Pepper Dumpling was a Chicken and Black Pepper combination encased in the translucent potato wrapper. The standard Chicken Dumpling is a heart warmer and goes wonderfully with the spicy red chilli dipping sauce. And finally you have the crunchy Celery and Chicken Dumpling in a purple wrapper – melt in the mouth delicious.
Ah, these Macarons. Champagne Cherry Macarons (INR 225), to be precise. A delicate Pink Macaron with champagne butter cream filling and cherry crystals adorning the top. I just could not stop at one!
So this November, set aside a date to indulge in this fabulous anniversary menu from Yauatcha. They have a special combo price on the menu with two cocktails, so you get to celebrate with them!
